Dr. Thad Wilson began serving as the chair for the Physiology review group in August 2021. Since then, Dr. Wilson has reviewed nine titles in the specialty.
Dr. Thad Wilson is a Professor in the Department of Physiology at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington, KY, holds the Dr. Fred W. Zechman Professorship at the University of Kentucky, and has an adjunct appointment in the Department of Epidemiology and Environmental Health at the University of Kentucky College of Public Health. He is an environmental physiologist and medical educator, having served several roles in pre-clinical medical education over the years. Dr. Wilson has received several local and national medical school teaching awards and developed medical physiology content for the Medicine Division of Lecturio GmbH. He is a former Associate Editor of the Journal of Thermal Biology and sits on several society journal editorial boards. Dr. Wilson obtained his BS and MS at the University of Wyoming, PhD at the University of Utah, and postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. He has co-authored over 90 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, as well as a physiology textbook (Lippincott’s Illustrated Reviews: Physiology). This two-authored textbook is now in its second edition, has been translated into eight languages, and is a Doody’s Core Title selection. Dr. Wilson initially wrote the book to fill the gap between choppy tome reference books and bullet point texts used for board review, as a highly visual approach coupled to a continuous narrative was missing from the field.
