Since February 2021, Dr. J. (John) Michael Leger has served as Editorial Review Group Chair of Nursing Administration/Management. During that time, we have sent him 33 titles in the specialty and he and his review group of 12 reviewers from eight institutions have reviewed 18.
Dr. Leger is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing (SON) at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB). He graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas with an AAS in Nursing in 1993. In 1995, Dr. Leger received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from UTMB. He then went on to earn his Master of Business Administration (MBA), with a focus in healthcare administration, in 1999 from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Leger received his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Nursing from UTMB in 2016. Since that time, he has earned the credentials of Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL), Certified Nurse Educator (CNE), and Nurse Executive, Advanced (NEA-BC). Dr. Leger has more than 20 years of nursing leadership experience having served as a Chief Nursing Officer, Vice President of Nursing, and Chief Executive Officer in various healthcare organizations, and, most recently, as Assistant Dean at UTMB SON. He is the author of the Doody’s Core Title, Financial Management for Nurse Managers: Merging the Heart with the Dollar, 5th Edition (Jones and Bartlett Learning, 2023).
