Since its founding in the 1960s by Charles B. Slack and his wife, SLACK Incorporated has specialized in healthcare and education publications and now publishes 14 peer-reviewed journals and 350 medical and allied health books concentrated in the fields of occupational and physical therapy, ophthalmology and optometry, athletic training, and gastroenterology. SLACK is now part of The Wyanoke Group, helmed by Charles’s son, Peter N. Slack. The Wyanoke Group includes Healio, Healio LIVE, Healio Strategic Solutions, and Vindico Medical Education.   

One of the earliest participating publishers in Doody Enterprises, SLACK Incorporated has sent us a total of 763 books since 1993. We last profiled SLACK in March 2014 and since that time, we have received 205 books and published reviews of 116 of them in Doody’s Review Service. In the past year, we’ve received 20 titles and published reviews of five of them so far, with four still in process. SLACK is well represented on Doody’s Core Titles 2021 with 24 titles, with two of them designated as Essential Purchases by our librarian selectors.
