Over the past year, we have received 46 titles in History of Medicine from 12 different publishers, 16 of them from seven different university presses with one from Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Press. To date, we have published reviews of 26 of them, with more currently out for review. These books range in price from $17.95 to $249.95, with the vast majority costing less than $100 and more than half coming in under $50. As a result, the average price of the titles we received is $66.63. Doody’s Core Titles 2018 features 12 History of Medicine titles, with eight designated Essential Purchases. Not surprisingly, five are from university presses and all are first editions, although one is a revised first edition.
