Dr. Yuka Kobayashi has been a Doody’s reviewer since 2018. She has reviewed eight sports medicine titles under Editorial Review Group Chair, Dr. Craig Young, and his predecessor, Dr. Douglas McKeag. 

Dr. Kobayashi completed her family medicine residency and sports medicine fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) in Milwaukee, WI. She joined Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in 2019 to practice academic family and sports medicine. She focused her time starting a concussion clinic and building the musculoskeletal curriculum for a new family medicine residency. She returned to MCW in 2021 to continue practicing family medicine and sports medicine, under both the Departments of Family and Community Medicine Department and Orthopaedic Surgery. She teaches medical students, is an adjunct faculty for a family medicine residency, and a core faculty for the sports medicine fellowship. She is currently a team physician for the Milwaukee Brewers.  

Dr. Kobayashi strives to practice what she preaches, which is lifelong learning. What better way than to review books written by leaders in their field. She’s recently enjoyed reading for fun, The Art of Fielding by Chad Harbach (Little, Brown and Company, 2011) as well as the recent nutrition book she reviewed, Sports Nutrition, 4th Edition, Jeukendrup and Gleeson (Human Kinetics, 2025) because she can always learn more about nutrition and her patients love when she can speak intelligently about it.
