Dr. Bridget Murphy has served as a Doody’s book reviewer since 2023. In her tenure, she has reviewed seven books in sports medicine under the direction of Editorial Review Group Chair Dr. Craig Young. Dr. Murphy has covered titles at the intersection of sports medicine and orthopedics, sex and gender, athletic training, law, and artificial intelligence. 

Dr. Murphy completed her medical education with St. James School of Medicine. She completed her family medicine residency with the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) in Milwaukee, WI and is finishing her sports medicine fellowship at TriHealth in Cincinnati, OH. Her special interests include female athletes, endurance athletes, and orthobiologics. Dr. Murphy also enjoys sideline medicine and has worked with high school, Division I and III collegiate, semi-professional, and professional athletics providing sideline coverage. She also spent a year as a team physician for a Cincinnati high school and Mount St. Joseph University. Once her fellowship is complete, Dr. Murphy will be moving to Peoria, IL for a sports medicine role with the Order of Saint Francis (OSF). 

On reviewing with Doody’s, Dr. Murphy shares “I enjoy reviewing books for Doody’s because these books often expand upon a topic that might only be afforded a chapter or two in a standard textbook. This allows me to delve into a topic and really try to wrap my head around it. There is always more to learn, and this is a great way to get a foundational understanding of a given topic.” 

Dr. Murphy recently enjoyed reading Medical Conditions In the Physically Active, 4^th Edition, Flanagan and Cuppett (Human Kinetics, 2025): “It’s well organized and appropriate for the many different people involved with athlete medical care. I recommend this to my coworkers often.”
