Dr. Pamela Harris-Haman has been a Doody’s Review Service book reviewer since 2021. She reviews Nursing Administration, Management, and Leadership titles with Editorial Review Group Chair, Dr. DeMonica Junious and previously with Dr. J. Michael Leger. In addition to contributing nine book reviews, Dr. Haman-Harris also served as the Content Specialist for Nursing Pharmacology and Nursing Process for Doody’s Core Titles 2025.

Dr. Harris-Haman is a neonatal nurse practitioner with over 40 years of experience in neonatal nursing. She is currently a neonatal nurse practitioner at UPMC Williamsport and a visiting professor at Chamberlain University teaching pharmacology in the MSN program. Dr. Harris-Haman received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Penn State, a neonatal nurse practitioner certificate from Georgetown University, her master of science in neonatal nurse practitioner from Stony Brook University, and her doctorate in nursing practice from Stony Brook University. She has also completed fellowships at the Advanced Practice Provider Leadership Institute fellowship with the Duke-Johnson & Johnson Nurse Leadership Program as well as with the Scholars in Healing Program at the University of Texas Medical Branch. She also works in conjunction with Touching Lives Ministry to provide Helping Babies Breathe training and education to neonatal nurses in Kenya, as well as directing the annual medical camp in rural Kenya. Dr. Harris-Haman is a member of SIGMA, is the National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN) advanced practice special interest group facilitator, and is section editor for NANN’s journal, Advances in Neonatal Care.

On her experience as a book reviewer, Dr. Harris-Haman shares, “I believe in improving wellness and mindfulness in nursing and advancing the profession to practice at the extent of our scope of practice. My personal belief is in taking on new opportunities and being a lifelong learner. I continue to learn and seek new opportunities, and I feel there is always one more thing I can learn or do.

“Reviewing books allows me to look into other aspects of nursing and education that I would not otherwise see. This keeps my knowledge level up and I learn new things with each review. Doody’s has been easy to work with. Their process is easy to follow, and they provide great direction. I cannot say that there has been one specific book that stands out over others as each book has been at either a different education level or address a different topic or area in nursing allowing me to keep my horizons expanded.”
