Will Sander, DVM, MPH, DACVPM, has been reviewing for Doody’s Review Service since 2019. Dr. Sander has written 24 book reviews under Editorial Review Group Chair for Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Peter Constable.
Dr. Sander is an assistant professor for preventive medicine and public health and director of the DVM/MPH Joint Degree program at University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. His research focuses on One Health, which is the intersection of human, animal, and ecosystem health. His work also includes interprofessional experience curriculum development, zoonotic disease emergence, behaviors and preventions, the human-animal bond, and emergency management for livestock diseases.
Prior to working at the University of Illinois, Dr. Sander spent six years in Washington D.C. During that time, he spent two years at the U.S. EPA Office of Water as an AAAS Science and Technology Fellow and three years supporting the Defense Threat Reduction Agency’s Cooperative Biological Engagement Program. Additionally, he was a staff veterinarian for five years at City Wildlife, Washington D.C.’s only wildlife rehabilitation center, and practiced for four years at VCA small animal practices. Dr. Sander is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine and previously served on their Executive Board. He serves on the board of directors for the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association, American Association for Food Safety and Public Health, and the Veterinary Sustainability Alliance. Additionally, he is the alternate Delegate for Illinois to the AVMA House of Delegates. Dr. Sander is a 2009 graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine and received a MPH from Yale University in 2011. His BA is from Colby College in 2004.
