No Comments on Publisher Profile: Springer Publishing 90
Although an entirely independent entity, Springer Publishing Company shares a name with the prominent STM publisher, Springer, for a very good reason. Springer Publishing Company was founded in 1950 by Bernhard Springer, the great grandson of Julius Springer, the founder of Springer in 1842. Springer Publishing Company publishes books in the fields of nursing, psychology, gerontology, social work, counseling, public health, rehabilitation, and healthcare administration. The company remained in the Springer family until 2004, when it was sold to a holding company, which continues the publishing program.
Springer Publishing has been a participating publisher since 1996, sending us 873 titles. In the past year, we’ve received 86 titles, and, so far, we’ve published reviews of 30 of them, with 17 still out for review. Doody’s Core Titles 2014 features 51 Springer Publishing titles in 22 specialty areas, primarily nursing. Of those, 7 are designated as Essential Purchase Titles, including the tenth edition of the classic, Jonas and Kovner’s Health Care Delivery in the United States(2011).
