Dr. Massoud Mahmoudi began serving as Chair of the Allergy/Clinical Immunology review group in September 2019. As of January 2022, Dr. Mahmoudi also serves as the Chair of Rheumatology. Since our original profile, we have sent him 77 books and he and his reviewers have submitted 45 reviews. 

Dr. Mahmoudi is board certified in internal medicine and allergy and immunology, and has been practicing in Northern California for the past 22 years. He is president of the American Osteopathic College of Allergy and Immunology and faculty at the University of California, San Francisco; Rowan University; and Touro University. He is editor-in-chief of the peer-reviewed international journal SN Comprehensive Clinical Medicine by Springer Nature. 

Dr. Mahmoudi received his PhD in microbiology from the University of North Texas in 1980. He completed three postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, with research in the biology of aging and cell differentiation, oncogenes, and plasminogen activator inhibitor. He received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at Kirkville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1994. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Yale University and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine (now Rowan University), followed by a fellowship in allergy and clinical immunology at the University of California, Davis in 2000. He is a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists, the American Osteopathic College of Allergy and Immunology, the American College of Physicians, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. 

After publishing numerous scientific papers, Dr. Mahmoudi became interested in writing academic books. Since 2005, he has authored/edited 13 books. He is the author of Immunology Made Ridiculously Simple which has been a best-selling title on Amazon in the immunology category since 2009. Dr. Mahmoudi’s latest book Absolute Allergy and Immunology Board Review (Springer, 2022) is featured on Doody’s Review Service. Two of his books are also featured in Doody’s Core Titles 2023Allergy and Asthma: Practical Diagnosis and Management, 2nd Edition (Springer, 2016) and Allergy and Asthma: The Basics to Best Practices (Springer, 2019), the former earning a Doody’s Star Rating Score of 100. In addition, he was formerly a health/medicine columnist for local newspapers and the San Francisco Chronicle in Northern California. He has been a local and national speaker for communities and academic centers in the areas of allergy and immunology, and has appeared as a guest on local television stations and Fox News.
