Dr. Joseph Hageman has served as the Pediatrics Editorial Review Group Chair for Doody’s Review Service since May 2017. Since then, he and his group of reviewers have reviewed 119 of the 230 books we have sent, with some currently under review.
Dr. Hageman is a clinically retired pediatrician with over 30 years of clinical experience as a neonatologist, pediatric intensivist, and pediatric hospitalist at NorthShore University HealthSystem, Evanston, IL. He managed medically complex children at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital from 1993 to 1995 and was a consultant for infants with apnea and other respiratory problems for 25 years, from 1982 to 2007. He was also editor of the Illinois Pediatrician newsletter for 15 years and served as director of pediatric resident research at Comer Children’s Hospital, University of Chicago, from 2012 to 2016.
Today, Dr. Hageman is the director of quality improvement of the neonatal intensive care unit at Comer Children’s Hospital, University of Chicago. His current appointments are senior clinician educator, Pritzker School of Medicine, University of Chicago, and professor emeritus of pediatrics, Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University. He is the editor in chief of Pediatric Annals and on the editorial board of Neonatology Today.
