Rowman & Littlefield, MLA’s primary publishing partner, is an independent publisher based outside Washington, DC, that publishes textbooks and books of general interest in the social sciences, including library and information science, area studies, communications, criminology, education, geography, health, history, philosophy, political science, psychology, religion, sociology, and women’s studies. Under several imprints, they offer scholarly titles, core textbooks for introductory courses, supplemental, affordable paperbacks for alternative approaches to teaching, and general interest and trade books.

Although Rowman & Littlefield has sent us 36 books since 2001, all in the specialty of Library and Information Science, we have received the majority of them, 28 in total, since 2019. Of those, 10 were published in 2019 or later. So far, we have published reviews of five of those current titles. Eight Rowman & Littlefield titles were selected for Doody’s Core Titles 2019, the most of any publisher in the specialty of Library and Information Science, and Medical Library Association Guide to Providing Consumer and Patient Health Information, Spatz (Rowman & Littlefield, 2014) was selected as an Essential Purchase title.
