Dr. Mark Eskandari took over as Editorial Review Group Chair in Vascular Surgery in 2012 from Dr. James Yao, who had served in that capacity since the very beginning of Doody Enterprises in 1993. Dr. Eskandari is also the first recipient of the James S. T. Yao, MD, PhD Professor of Vascular Surgery endowed chair at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Since he took over for Dr. Yao, we have sent him 79 books and he has organized reviews of 58 of them, using 21 different reviewers.

Dr. Eskandari is the Chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery and Program Director of the Vascular Surgery Fellowship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and Professor of Surgery, Radiology, and Medical Education at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Eskandari is a board-certified vascular and endovascular surgeon with a particular interest in endovascular surgery and stent technology. He also serves as the Co-Director of the Thoracic Aortic Program and Medical Director of both the Vascular (Blood Flow) Laboratory and the Carotid Stenting Program (ICACSF) at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

His current clinical research endeavors include numerous clinical trials investigating the use of stent grafts for the treatment of abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysms, carotid stent systems for stroke prevention, and lower extremity endovascular interventions for limb preservation. He is an internationally recognized expert in carotid artery stenting and aortic aneurysm stent grafting and has served as course director for several national carotid stenting and aortic stent grafting training programs for other physicians as well as the annual Northwestern Vascular Symposium. His bibliography includes over 164 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts, 62 book chapters, 11 books, and 225 local, national, and international presentations on the treatment of vascular disease. He has been the recipient of three awards for excellence in research, six awards for excellence in teaching at Northwestern, the Lifeline Foundation’s Wylie Fellowship award, and the NMFF Physician Clinical Excellence Award for Clinical Innovation.

Dr. Eskandari completed his undergraduate and medical school education at the University of Michigan. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and his vascular/endovascular surgery fellowship at Northwestern.
