No Comments on Publisher Profile: Lippincott Williams & Wilkins 128
Although Lippincott Williams & Wilkins officially came into being in 1998, its origins date back to a 1792 Philadelphia bookstall. That company, which eventually became J. B. Lippincott, was bought by Wolters Kluwer in 1990 and was merged with Williams & Wilkins in 1998. Lippincott Williams & Wilkins continues to operate as a unit of Wolter Kluwers Health 16 years later. Over the past year, we have received 141 LWW titles in 54 clinical medicine, nursing, and allied health and have published reviews of 72 of them, with 20 still out for review. The publisher is well represented on Doody’s Core Titles 2014, with 343 of its publications appearing on 94 specialty lists. LWW titles figure prominently on the Hematology/Oncology core list, accounting for 11 of the 28 titles, among them the classics, DeVita, Hellman, and Rosenberg’s Cancer: Principles and Practice of Oncology, 9th Edition (2011), first published in 1982 and described by Doody reviewers as the “premiere oncology textbook in the world,” and the 13th edition of Wintrobe’s Clinical Hematology (2014), which dates back to 1942.
