No Comments on Specialty Profile: Human Trafficking & Domestic Violence 11
The second installment in our 2024-2025 Doody’s Special Topics List focuses on human trafficking and domestic violence. Understanding these topics is crucial for healthcare professionals, particularly because victims of both often go unseen. These issues are rooted in the exploitation and control of vulnerable individuals, especially women and children. More often than not, both human trafficking and domestic violence occur behind closed doors, making it difficult to recognize victims. It may even be complicated for healthcare professionals to recognize the signs if they are hidden beneath layers of physical or psychological symptoms. This underscores the importance of developing a keen sense of how these abuses manifest, along with knowledge of appropriate and timely interventions, with the ultimate goal of breaking the cycle of violence.
It is our hope that this list of books will help librarians curate the necessary resources to serve those goals. These titles will contribute to expanding the conversation on the impact of human trafficking and domestic violence and hopefully provide the awareness and knowledge necessary to tackle these issues around the world.
