No Comments on Publisher Profile: Springer 110
Springer is a leading publisher of mostly monographs in science, technology, and medicine. Less than a year after we profiled Springer in 2014, the publisher merged with Nature Publishing Group, Palgrave Macmillan, and Macmillan Education, forming Springer Nature. In the last year, we have received nearly 1,300 titles from Springer and its imprint, Humana Press. Just as in 2014, the titles represent the basic sciences, clinical medicine, and allied health fields, but the majority cover topics in surgical specialties. Since last November, 338 reviews have been published in Doody’s Review Service. Doody’s Core Titles 2021 features 360 titles from Springer and Humana Press – double that of 2014 – with 55 of those selected by librarians as Essential Purchase Titles for medical libraries. Just as in 2014, librarians continue to consider the AJCC Cancer Staging Manual, now in its eighth edition, an Essential Purchase for Hematology/Oncology and Oncologic Surgery collections. Today, all Springer titles are available as ebooks.
