For this month’s Specialty Profile, we’re highlighting the latest installment in our newest free feature for Doody’s Core Titles and Doody’s Review Service subscribers called Doody’s Special Topics Lists.

On April 1, we published our third Doody’s Special Topics List focused on Health Professionals & Stress. This list is incredibly timely and will hopefully be high impact. On any given day, health professionals experience a substantial amount of stress as part of their jobs. COVID-19 has turned the stress dial way up for doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, and other first responders whose duty it is to treat (and now vaccinate) patients amid a global pandemic. Our Doody’s Special Topics List conceptualizes “health professionals & stress” as an interdisciplinary specialty that draws on principles of workplace engagement, fulfillment, and wellbeing; sleep, depression, and mental health; job satisfaction; burnout; compassion fatigue; and positive outlooks on stress. Titles on the list have audiences that range from general health practitioners to specific professional populations such as nurses, social workers, physicians, and therapists. Many of the books on the list aim to provide a theoretical background for practical action steps that can be taken to enhance overall wellbeing and stress management.

Selected by seasoned librarians with a demonstrated passion for wellbeing, the list is comprised of 61 titles from 26 publishers. The costs of the titles range from $11.99 to $285.00, the average being $71.90. Three of the titles were selected for Doody’s Core Titles 2020, one of which is an Essential Purchase Title. Twenty-three of the titles have been reviewed by experts in Doody’s Review Service and the copyright dates range from 2008 to 2022.

If you’re a Doody’s Review Service subscriber, you can access the list by clicking here and logging in to your account. If you’re a Doody’s Core Titles customer, you can access the list by clicking here and logging into your account. You may also be able to access the list through one of our licensing partners: EBSCO, Rittenhouse, Matthews, and Ovid. If you’re not sure about how you can get access, please contact Customer Service and we’ll gladly assist you. We look forward to publishing our next list, focused on Health Literacy, in July 2021.
