Karger Publishers is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year. In 1890, a young Samuel Karger went into the medical publishing business in Berlin with his first book, a manual in obstetrics. Today, his great-granddaughter, Gabriella Karger, heads the now Swiss-based company, which employs 250 people worldwide. Karger has a highly specialized publishing program that encompasses 100 journals and 50 new books per year across all biomedical disciplines.

Karger is a relatively new participating publisher in Doody’s Review Service, sending us their books since 2008. Since then, we’ve received 305 of their titles. In the past year, we’ve received 43 of their titles, and we have published reviews of 16 of them so far, with 6 more currently out for review. The just-published Doody’s Core Titles 2015 features 5 Karger titles in 5 different specialty areas.
