Dr. Oglesby-Odom has been working with us since 2019 when Dr. Janice Phillips invited her to be an external reviewer with the Rush review group. When Dr. Oglesby-Odom took on her current role at Advocate Trinity in 2020, she began the process of creating her own review group with her leadership team, modeled after Rush’s. To date, she has written 13 reviews herself and has helped us connect with 22 nurse and healthcare leaders at Advocate Trinity. Like the Rush group, this group covers a variety of nursing and health care administration specialties.

Dr. Gwendolyn Oglesby-Odom is an accomplished nurse executive with over 25 years of extensive healthcare operations, financial, accreditation, and regulatory experience in the post-acute care setting. She has a proven track record for leveraging her operational and clinical expertise to successfully facilitate healthcare turnarounds and startups. Her areas of expertise in the post-acute care setting include home health, public health, correctional health, managed care, chronic care management, and transitional care management services.

Her professional and educational experience makes her uniquely qualified to provide leadership in a myriad of healthcare settings. Dr. Oglesby-Odom currently serves as the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and Vice President (VP) at Advocate Aurora Health’s Trinity Hospital. As the CNO/VP, she is committed to leveraging her expertise to impact the overall presence, position, and perception of Trinity in the Chicagoland market. There’s no better example of her triumphs at Trinity than her handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighted by The Atlantic

Prior to joining Advocate Aurora Health, she served as a Senior Healthcare Consultant for Strategic Healthcare Transformations where she provided consultative services to healthcare organizations aimed at cultivating robust, system-wide care initiatives that focused on strategically positioning healthcare organizations for growth and sustainability.

Dr. Oglesby-Odom is a charismatic, pragmatic, and inclusive leader who has a passion for community health care that is value centered. She believes her work in the healthcare industry reflects her passion for humanity. She uses mentoring, relationship building, creative thinking, external awareness, flexibility, accountability, and her visionary skills to develop, inspire, and build productive, results-driven teams. She is acutely aware that her passion has a direct impact on her legacy. Therefore, she gives and expects nothing less than excellence.
