No Comments on Editorial Review Group Chair: Vincent F. Carr DO, MSA, FACC, FACP 625
Vincent F. Carr, DO, who has chaired the General Medicine Editorial Review Group since 2007, is one of a select number of Doody’s Review Service Chairs who go above and beyond our protocol of getting reviews of two-thirds of the books we send them, instead getting reviews of almost all of them. Also unique is the fact that he reviews most of the books himself. This is quite a feat in General Medicine, because we send him about 60 titles each year and, since he started with us, he’s reviewed over 400 titles!
A cardiologist, Dr. Carr recently retired after serving in the United States Air Force, as the Chief Consultant for Internal Medicine Services to the USAF Surgeon General, and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. In retirement, he is the Medical Director for the State of Delaware Department of Correction.
Dr. Carr has served as Governor of the American College of Cardiology, representing the U.S. Air Force, and is Governor-Elect to the American College of Physicians. He has extensive experience in Institutional Review Boards and the protection of human volunteers in research protocols. With a particular interest in the appropriate use of Clinical Guidelines, he has been a peer reviewer for numerous guidelines, a member of multiple guideline-writing committees and has cochaired guideline-writing committees.
Dr. Carr is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians, American College of Osteopathic Internists and The American College of Physician Executives.
