Dr. Cynthia Cummings has served as Editorial Review Group Chair in the nursing specialties of Administration/Management and Critical Care since 2012. In those five years, she has reviewed every one of the 98 books we have sent her, with six currently in the pipeline for review.

Dr. Cummings is Associate Professor and Program Director for Accelerated Nursing at the University of North Florida, where she has been for the past 10 years. She has taught predominantly in the areas of adult health, critical care, and leadership/professional development. Her clinical experience has focused on adult health, home healthcare, and critical care. In addition, she has served as director of professional services, director of two home care agencies, nurse manager, and assistant nurse manager during her career.

She has an EdD from the University of North Florida and an MSN from the University of Maryland. She also is a CHSE (certified healthcare simulation educator) and a CNE (certified nurse educator).

Dr. Cummings does a great deal of work with nursing simulation and has received three grants for simulation education. Her focus is on student competency and satisfaction with simulation, specifically developing real-world skills for students. Her current research focus is on moral distress and moral resilience with nursing students and preparedness for practice. She also works with a number of local agencies and groups and serves on numerous committees. She looks forward to working with many more students and helping them to develop a love for nursing.
